We live in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. Our studio is situated in an old Cape cottage style house with a wonderful view of the mountains.

We have been designing and producing our individual creations under the Essential Bears label since 1992. We specialise in miniature soft sculpture creations and usually make one-of-a-kind or very small limited editions. The intricacy of design as well as the variety of finishes, including beadwork and embroidery, have become trademarks of our work. As well as tiny bears we also make a wide range of other creatures which are available directly from us as well as from several specialist bears shops. Our total annual output is generally only approximately 100-120 bears each many of which are made specifically for the fairs that we attend in Europe and America. See our show schedule for details.

I am rather slow at updating our web page on a regular basis. Our ideas are constantly changing and many of our bears are sold before they can be added to the site.
